Coaching for Women Leaders

Women are a force of nature. And like the glass ceilings in our world, we can also get in our own way. Both things are true, and holding them at the same time is most of the work.

Know you're not alone. Join the conversation.

GET STARTED

There are real structural conditions: being the only woman in the room, having your directness read as difficulty and your warmth read as softness, the assumption that you’ll do the organizational housekeeping, the calculation you run before every meeting about how much of yourself to bring. And there is the internal architecture that grows up around those conditions; the vigilance, the over-preparation, the resentment you’ve learned to swallow, the sense that rest has to be earned.

Coaching won’t dismantle the structure. It will give you a clearer view of which part is the room and which part is you, and considerably more choice about both.

Since 2014, Reboot has worked with thousands of leaders across the globe, including women founders, executives, and entrepreneurs at every stage.

WHY WOMEN LEADERS CHOOSE REBOOT

Janessa White

“It may seem obvious, but you don’t know what you don’t know. Before taking on a Reboot coach, my blind spots as a leader, manager, and CEO were numerous. This also may seem obvious, but the deeper I dove into who I am and what makes me me, the more visibility I gained into my blind spots. My time with my coach made me a better human, and in turn led to becoming a better leader, manager, and CEO.”

If you're a woman, even if you don't know the exact textbook definition of resentment — "bitter indignation at having been treated unfairly" — you know exactly what that feeling is.

Often, we think of trust in binaries: either we trust someone or we don't. However, the formula for trust is more nuanced than we might think.

Why tracking your shadow is essential for being a leader — and a better human.

Clearing Up The Lies We Tell Ourselves

Clearing Up The Lies We Tell Ourselves

If you’re human, you’ve likely got a pile of shame somewhere. It shows up in various ways, and we do a lot of roundabout things to cope with it and cover it up because shame feels oh-so-baaaaad.

A Body of Work

A Body of Work

A long-standing question for women everywhere, and particularly in the role of working mother is: How can she make room for her needs?

WHAT WE HEAR MOST OFTEN

  • The double bind. Assertive reads as aggressive, collaborative reads as indecisive, and the acceptable range between them is narrower than it is for your male peers. Most women leaders have spent years managing this, often without naming it.
  • The invisible load. Not only the work at work, but the work at home, the emotional labor of the team, and the mental overhead of tracking everything nobody else is tracking.
  • Resentment with nowhere to go. Bitter indignation at having been treated unfairly — you may not know the textbook definition, but you know exactly what the feeling is. Most women have been taught to bury it. There’s more information in it than that.
  • Family and career as a supposed choice.  The question of whether both can genuinely coexist, and the guilt that shows up regardless of which way you lean.
  • Disconnection from the body. Long-term operating in high-pressure environments teaches a lot of women to override physical signals entirely — until the body stops asking politely.
  • The exhaustion of self-management. Deciding how to speak, how to dress, how much to smile, how hard to push. It’s a second job, and it’s unpaid.

OUR DISTINCTIVE APPROACH

Reboot’s approach to coaching was shaped by a conviction that the quality of your leadership is inseparable from the quality of your self-understanding.

For women in leadership, this often begins with an audit of authorship: which of the rules you’re following did you actually choose? Many of the constraints women operate under have been internalized so thoroughly they no longer feel like constraints. They feel like personality, or professionalism, or simply how things are.

Coaching is where those get separated out, so that what remains is genuinely yours.

COACHING VS. MENTORSHIP

Mentorship offers you someone else’s map. It can be genuinely valuable, and for women leaders it’s often in short supply.

But the woman who succeeded in a particular environment succeeded partly by adapting to it, and her adaptations may not be the ones you want to make. Coaching is the work of drawing your own map: figuring out what works for you, your values, and the leader you actually want to be.

Reboot’s leadership coaching services help you unpack the mental models driving your decisions, making the unconscious conscious.

Practical Skills + Radical Self-inquiry

The practical half: negotiating for what you’re worth, giving feedback that lands, holding a boundary and keeping it, building an executive team, running a board, asking for help without apologizing for it.

The deeper half: understanding what you learned early on about taking up space, noticing what happens in your body before a hard conversation, examining the perfectionism you’ve been calling high standards, and reckoning with the possibility that you’re allowed to want what you want.

Our Formula

Practical Skills + Radical Self-Inquiry + Shared Experiences
=

Enhanced Leadership + Greater Resilience

WORKING SOMATICALLY

Much of this work lives in the body before it reaches language.

Reboot coaches work somatically, attending to what happens in you physically as you lead, because developing a rapport with your body is what keeps you connected to your aliveness, vitality, creativity, imagination, and longing. For leaders who have spent years overriding physical signals in order to keep performing, this is often the most surprising and useful part of the work.

HOW WE SUPPORT WOMEN IN LEADERSHIP

Beyond Traditional Business Coaching

Working with a Reboot coach, you’ll develop the capacity to:

  • Take up the space the role actually requires
  • Use resentment as information rather than carrying it
  • Make decisions about work and family without organizing your life around guilt
  • Stay in contact with your own body and its signals
  • Lead as yourself rather than as a version of yourself calibrated for the room

The Inner Work of Leadership

We believe that work does not have to destroy us. Work can be the way in which we achieve our fullest selves.

A Reboot coach helps you examine the beliefs and patterns that shape how you lead, understand why certain situations keep producing the same frustrations, and develop a more intentional way of showing up — grounded in your own values rather than in expectations you never agreed to.

WORKING WITH A REBOOT COACH

Our 1:1 coaching contracts are month-to-month, with rates varying based on session length and frequency. A typical engagement includes two 60- or 80-minute sessions per month, with access to your coach between sessions.

You can request a coach of any gender. Some clients want a woman coach who has navigated similar terrain; others find something valuable in working across difference. Both are good reasons, and we’ll talk it through on the intake call.

WHY REBOOT?

Reboot was founded on the belief that in our work lies the possibility of the full realization of human potential. Work doesn’t have to destroy us. Work can be the way we achieve our fullest selves, and in doing so, we become more effective leaders, colleagues, and human beings.

We believe better leaders make better humans, and better humans create more humane organizations and places of systemic belonging.
