Reflections on the Art of Being Human at Work.

From Whence You Come How can we make conscious choices about the ways we have been complicit in, and benefitted from, a world we say we don’t want to exist, a world in which too many feel they don’t belong?
Medicine for the Self There are many benefits to journaling. At once in those pages, we work with our present self, discover our old self, and dialogue with our future self. We track our dreams and the future that’s calling us into it. We excavate our hearts and say what we need to say as our first fidelity.
From Both Sides Regret gives you a chance to see things from both sides. The one you lived through, and the retrospective. Pausing to reflect on what was or has been allows us to see what we’ve learned from the vantage point of where we are now.
The Ones That Stand Behind You How often do you connect with those who came before you? What did they live through? What were their unfulfilled dreams? What stories are still alive in your family to this day? What is unknown?
The Lottery of Life If you imagine looking back on your life as it is now from your deathbed, what do you see? What would you change? What haunts you?
From Heartbreak, Through Resilience, To Equanimity In transitions, abrupt or otherwise, there’s heartbreak and grief to sit with while the heart muscle of resilience grows bigger to hold it all so that we can be at peace, in a new place, with what we’ve been through and where we find ourselves. If we’re lucky, we find ourselves having arrived with more congruency between our inner person and our outer person.
The Thing About Hard Things It’s in the throes of life that the most profound personal growth happens for us. Hard things are best paired with our awareness and choice.
Shifting for the Better We all depend on each other in one way or another. This holds true for those in the nucleus of our lives and families, and those in widening circles from there--neighbors, friendships, business relationships.
The Act to Follow Sometimes, we don’t know what’s around the corner, and sometimes we can’t believe what’s happening in front of our eyes. The hallmark of character development is finding personal resilience through it all.
Splendid Isolation In a seemingly odd, but lovely pairing, joy and grief go hand in hand. One’s ability to feel the ranges and valleys of grief, the trembles from the soul that move through currents of sadness, means that one is also more able to experience great joy. Conversely, unfelt grief can dampen our joy circuits.
