Reflections on the Art of Being Human at Work.

The Art of Pruning Much like the art of growing a bonsai, we can know what is our work to do once we sink into our lives long enough to finally do the work of growing up. Pruning our lives in this way removes superfluous or unwanted parts especially to increase fruitfulness and growth.
Strength in Numbers Leaving self-care behind leaves much at stake. Doing so leads to burnout, emotional breakdowns, and anxiety attacks, and creates unpleasant interpersonal relations and undue harm to those around you. By taking care of yourself first, you can better care for others.
From Heartbreak, Through Resilience, To Equanimity In transitions, abrupt or otherwise, there’s heartbreak and grief to sit with while the heart muscle of resilience grows bigger to hold it all so that we can be at peace, in a new place, with what we’ve been through and where we find ourselves. If we’re lucky, we find ourselves having arrived with more congruency between our inner person and our outer person.
Bodyfulness In leadership and in life, the body is a source of knowing and action. Failing to include the body in our experience of leadership and of being a leader, makes for disembodied leadership.
Bigger Than a Bread Box For those with a fix-it tendency, consider asking: Who or what are you fixing? What fuels the fixing? What are you feeling when you’re fixing? What might the fixing be trying to fix about how you're feeling?
The Thing About Hard Things It’s in the throes of life that the most profound personal growth happens for us. Hard things are best paired with our awareness and choice.
Shifting for the Better We all depend on each other in one way or another. This holds true for those in the nucleus of our lives and families, and those in widening circles from there--neighbors, friendships, business relationships.
The Act to Follow Sometimes, we don’t know what’s around the corner, and sometimes we can’t believe what’s happening in front of our eyes. The hallmark of character development is finding personal resilience through it all.
This Being an Entrepreneur This being an entrepreneur is a guest house; every morning a new arrival. Even when you do it all right, the less desirable things can happen.
