Reflections on the Art of Being Human at Work.

How to Have More Influence True influence isn’t about volume; it’s about trust, strategic insight, and understanding the system you’re operating in.
Intrinsic Motivation, Or the Inherent Joy of Doing What intrinsically drives our employees/team members is unique/bespoke to each individual on the team. Yet, knowing these three major areas can help us think more effectively about how to bring out the best in each individual.
Mad to the Bone Anger tells us something we value is being threatened and is evolution's way of telling us “Do something about this!” Being an adult with our anger means finding a way to a healthy expression of it.
Taking Into Account Accountability is also an inside job. How are you, an employee, taking full responsibility for yourself as it relates to this work? Being accountable means being ready to show up for the work that’s in front of us and be a contributor to the fulfillment of the goal of the whole.
What Is the Best Way To Lead the Person in Front of You? Adaptive leadership asks you to be keen enough to be with who is in front of you, in any situation, and be able to connect relationally and with what matters. That requires a different skillset than a fixed leadership style.
A Skill Set for Life Leadership isn’t constrained to leaders in organizations. Leadership is for people who are leading as life partners, leading as parents, leading in their communities, and in anything outside the confines of a job or career.
Adapting & Setting Limits Whether it’s a co-founder, employee, parent, or ‘that one relative,’ odds are good that at some point in your relational life you’ll encounter a high conflict personality. Knowing those odds, it’s good to have the psychological awareness to know who these folks are and how they work so that you can relate to them in a way that is clear and kind (for both them and you).
Considering Good friendship consists of a safe place to be yourself and offer that to another. It’s a place where there’s mutual respect and trust that you’ll show up for each other in ways that make the other feel seen and heard. It’s a place in which you feel deeply considered by the other.
Facing The Challenges of Virtual Teams: 10 Skills for Managing Remote Organizations Successfully Managing a remote team successfully requires an attunement to what matters most in communication: understanding the human or humans in front of you.
Power & Trust Unhealthy VC and founder dynamics can take shape on both sides of the table. The opportunity in any relationship that’s aware of its positions in power dynamics is the experience of being in “power with” versus the feeling of “power over.”
